What is Phentermine?
Phentermine is a stimulant similar to amphetamine that is used for a short time to speed weight loss in overweight people who are exercising and eating a low-calorie diet. Phentermine is in a class of medications called anorectics and is used for an appetite suppressant.

What is Phentermine used for?
Drugs of this class used in obesity are commonly known as "anorectics" or "anorexigenics." It has not been established that the action of such drugs in treating obesity is primarily one of appetite suppression. Other central nervous system actions, or metabolic effects, may be involved, for example.

What are Phentermine side effects?
Bad taste in mouth, changes in sex drive, constipation, diarrhea, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, nervousness, upset stomach

Is Phentermine safe for weight loss?
Prescription diet pills are intended for use by people whose BMI exceeds 30 and are therefore classed as obese. People that have a BMI of 27 or greater and that also suffer from associated risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes or hyperlipidemia are also often deemed suitable candidates for Phentermine.
It is true that prescription diet pills, like all other medications can cause side effects, however when someone is prescribed a diet pill such as Phentermine it is because your doctor feels that the benefits of losing weight to reach a healthy BMI outweigh the possible side effects.

Heard of Phentermine before?
If you feel that you heard the Phentermine before - You have! It is the "Phen" in the notorious drug cocktail "Phen Fen" from the 1980's. It was taken taken off the shelves after multiple reporting of heart valve damage. Fenfluramine and Phentermine combined together was considered  a deadly cocktail by the FDA. The FDA requested its withdrawal from the market in September 1997.
